So what is the lighting placement trick to control light reflection on shades?

P.S. Don't say Photoshop ;)

Here's one where I plared around with centering the main light behind me and turned off the fill light to the right of the subject. Still used top lighting with the doors further open (Spread).

I tell my clients to tilt their glasses forward - keep the glasses at the same point on the nose but the ear pieces are up and no longer resting on the ears.

Failing that (or with shorter haired models where this stands out) a different lighting angle should help.
