Cool shots and all, but thats not panning. Panning is when you set the focus on a moving object and track its motion. Usually people use slower shutter speeds to blur the background and keep the subject in focus.

This is my first attempt at panning. Not that good but i tried.

I am still trying to get this technique nailed down, with improved results, but still not "tits". Here is my most recent sequence of sport bike riders back in the Santa Monica mountains. If some of you moto pros could eyeball a few of the shots for some C&C, I would appreciate it. The most infuriating thing thats happening is I am getting the front of a bike sharp as a tack, but the rider looks as blurred as the background. Can't figure it out.....
