Picked up the camera for the first time in 3 months, was able to find some time to shoot between tuning and driving.

I have a friend that is working on one of those teams building one of those...he is in school in Texas. Cool stuff. That driver needs a driving suit!

Just a general questions. How many of y'all use a tripod to do your panning.

i never do. monopod with the 400 and handheld with everything else.

Pretty much the same. When I am shooting wider (100mm or less) I find I can get better results hand held. But I will use a monopod if I am shooting longer, sometimes even if I have using my 70-200mm with the 1.4tc

using a tripod? Never! Not even a monopod when panning with the 70-200 2.8L and 400 5.6L, always handheld. Hate using a monopod when panning.

Thanks! Quite soon after that my 7D stopped working. Poor weather sealing didn't stand heavy conditions very long.
And on that tripod question me neither use tripod or monopod. I find much easier to follow object hand held, of course IS on my 70-200 helps a lot. My wider lensen are non IS.
