They had chainsaw motors in them and weighed about 25 pounds. They are really fast and when they’re on the dirt, they are really difficult to pan well as they are bouncing all over. I'm guessing that the amount of vibration the noise of those things creates would necessitate a higher shutter speed to freeze vertical motion of the camera itself.
