Thanks Kiwi,
But trust me, they're not all like that.
I only tried about 6 cars and got at least one of each though so I was pretty happy. They were taken using AF as well.
Next time you're out and you've got your "safe/stock" shots, have a play at really slow stuff, you might just surprise yourself. Sometimes you have to be a little brave and go outside your comfort zone.
A word of warning though, not everyone likes slow shots and they may not sell. But that's because people simply don't "get it". Most of the people I shoot for want boring front 3/4 and side on shots...I put it down to the fact they don't appreciate the technical side of the shot and don't see what you were trying to achieve.
I did a shot once and wanted to slap the guy because he said it was crap photography because the photo was "blurry" -
Anyway, I'll climb down off my soapbox now
Here's another one from Bathurst. This time @ 1/20th sec, F22 and ISO 50 with the 100-400

Yes, that's me too.

I usually do try to experiment more with cars further down the field, and sometimes that's where I get my best shots - it's just that I have never been brave enough to go down to 1/10s.

I still maintain that my weekend was cr@p.

And before anyone points out there's dust spots, I know - you could grow potatoes in my lens and carrots on my sensor at the moment :-)

Hi Tigermack,
Based on that shot, you don't need any advice -
Maybe crop in a bit tighter (but not too tight) leaving some of the top bit of track with the signage and same at the bottom - this will still give a reference point and the look of speed.
It's only an opinion and not critical as the shot looks fine as it is.
nice pic!
Regards
Phil
