PS Sharpen

In photoshop if you go to filter - sharpen- sharpen what settings does that use? IE What would I plug in with the USM to get the same effect? I find that many times just sharpen looks good, but I feel I could make it a little better with the USM but I don't know where to start because I don't know what Sharpen did. If that makes sense.

My general purpose starting point for USM is 300, 0.3, 0. It really depends on the size of the final image though. Also, sometimes you may want the image to be a bit softer.

I agree with 300, 0.3, but I generally use a higher Threshold - 3 to 5.

My understanding with "Sharpen", "Sharpen Edges" and "Sharpen More" is that they differ in threshold. I can't say what the figures are exactly, but I estimate it's something like this:

Filter-Sharpen = 100, 0.3, 5
Filter-Sharpen Edges = 100, 0.3, 10
Filter-Sharpen More = 100, 0.3, 0

I do USM twice.

200,0.3,0
15,100,0

Then I resize and run a modded old FM sharpening AlGoreRythym.

The first double pass is enough for most. The 200 can be played with. Salt as needed.
