Thanks. I agree with you guys that the B-24 pics were best (that's why I put them first). It's been a while since I shot an air show. I forgot how hard it is.

May 27, 2007 22:06 | #6 That's right, it's a B-25, and while the shots are nice, I would be remiss if I did not mention that the shutter speeds are much too high for the prop driven planes. Good general rule, never go over 1/250. 7D, 5D MKIII, 17-40 f/4L, 24-70 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 300 f/2.8L IS, 500 f/4L IS, 1.4xII, 2.0xII

Good general rule, never go over 1/250. Yeah, I know about the shutter speed. But I have no luck getting a decent pic at 400mm while panning at a slow enough shutter speed to get prop blur. I took the path of getting the shot. If I really really like one, I could always photoshop some prop blur.

I would like to see some great shots. Can you show me some examples of pics taken at 400mm and 1/125? How about 1/160 @ 400mm? As you can see, the number of blades in the prop has an effect on the amount of blur. A shutter speed slower than 1/160 would have shown better blur on the aircraft with the two-bladed prop. Something you might want to look at is the color space your camera is shooting in. Your file names, _MG_XXXX.jpg, indicate to me your camera is set to Adobe RGB colorspace. If this is the case, your colors will look a little dull when posted on the web. You should change your color space to sRGB. See page 56 of the 20D manual for information on color space. John
