One thought - if you are printing for personnal pleasure/convience these small printers do well. For production work, cost per print (4x6 thru 8x10) is substantially higher than a semi pro/pro lab w/R4 prints. What no one seems to realize is how much extra time does it take to print your own.....especially for production printing??? Whats' your time worth.??? No way can I print my own at my labs' price point.

keep in focus...

My Dad got one awhile ago (can't recall what HP model it is). I had all skepticism tossed out of my mind when we printed off several prints. Very good quality. Again, not very cost effective, but for the casual user and for convenience, it is great.

I've got one of the older Canon Selphy dye-subs. I use it for when I just want to print a couple of pictures out. It's very convenient for that, and the quality is acceptable. I would never use it for larger jobs, though.

You want to hang up 4x6's? That's really small.

If in fact you are talking about hanging 4x6 pictures, I think one of the compact printers would work fine.

If you want to get decent prints that last then you won't achieve it with a home printer.

Send your files to a lab where they use a professional printer that uses heat and chemicals.

Good call, I thought about it and decide this was not the way to go, because I would like to print some 8x10 out.

I have both the Epson PictureMate and a kodak (forget model #) and they do a great /cost effective print job. There are times I am not willing to wait till prints get mailed back to me. Also both work off of the invertor I use in my car so I can print 4x6 anywhere. We actually had prints in hand of my granddaughter with-in minutes of her birth :D
I still send most pictures out to print but for thoose times you can't/don't want to both are nice. I do feel that the kodak one is a bit nicer colors though.
