Can anyone tell me if Lightroom or CS3 are compatible with Windows Vista? I'm looking at purchasing a new PC and I'm not sure what operating system to go for?

Vista's too new to get a full picture of any incompatibilities yet.

There are at least 2 known incompatibilities:

CD/DVD burning don't usually work correctly, if at all
Importing from a Card or Camera doesn't work correctly - transfer the files to the hard drive, and then import then.

The reason for my query is because on the Lightroom box, it says under system requirements "Microsoft Windows XP with service pack2, Intel pentium 4 processor"?

Search the U2U forums for Vista, and you'll get an idea of the issues that have been arising. That said, the updates for LR are quicker than a standard Adobe schedule, so the issues will also be fixed quicker, so anything that does cause you a problem should only be a temporary issue.

Here's the Adobe official line on Vista & their products: http://www.adobe.com …cts_and_windows_vista.pdf (external link)

Using all 3 only issue I have is importing files from card with LR, it seems to not be able to read one file each time... Work around is to transfer files to hard disk first before importing to LR....

All the best

Ok, just about to order a new PC base unit with Vista. I will be running LR1 and CS3, any last minute advice?

2Gb of ram and you'll be happy with it. There's no compatibility problems, especially if you buy a PC with Vista already installed.
