Taken yesterday....a male was around as well, but wouldn't get very close (this gal was bumping up against the minimum focus distance of the lens). Only cropped enough to move the bird out of the centre of the frame.

Hi Ed, the bird was in a Maple tree which just openned its leaves in the last ten days or so, so they are not yet that deep green colour and the afternoon sun gave that yellow green colour to the leaves. cynbene wrote in post #3276272 Beautiful! ) It was 1/400 @ f/5.8 ISO 800. Normally I would be using a monopod or tripod, but I was sitting in the cottage when I noticed the Goldfinch in the tree and just grabbed the camera to get a few shots before it flew away.
