Mama mallard and a baby goose

Hi Everyone,

This mama mallard has taken up residence in my parent's front yard in the suburbs. She built her nest under a rose bush next to their garage. My mom has taken to calling her Daffy.

The other is a young gosling from the lake. As always, comments and suggestions appreciated.

Very nice. Is this with the Q-ray? Something definately looks much, much better.

Yes, these with with the Q-ray. Maybe I'm finally starting to get the hang of this! I've stopped over analyzing everything and just trying to have fun and see what I can get. It was a lot brighter outside today though--more light may have helped me.

More light will let you use higher shutter speeds. That will help reduce some of the shake from hand holding. I shot for years and simply would not use a tripod, I hated it. Finally I broke down and started using one. That makes all the difference.
