Attempt at portraits

I prefer the second one although the right hand and are are overexposed. Using levels and curves in PS might improve both images.

I personally like the first, with her looking through her fingers. It's a nice humor shot.

These are great pictures. May I ask why they are done in Black and White?

Thank you. I chose to make it b & w because I wanted the focus to be more on the subject instead of all the bright colors that were in the original photos.
