I have some questions for you all.
1. How did you come up with your company/studio's name? Is there any significance behind it?

2. How did you learn all the lingo that came with digital photography? I have a hard time figuring out what you all are talking about, let alone executing it. Are there books or other reading. Having gotten a late start in the digital world, I feel lost. I know I am a good photog, ppl love my work, but the PP of digital is confuising.

If i have more ill edit, or if others think of anything, please add.

Thanks!!

with #2... just reading a lot on the internet and watching what people say here - anything you don't know search for on here or google it and answers will appear forthwith :)

Repeat this until satisfied ;)

Works for me - your mileage may vary, some people prefer books.

Here's what you need to know about both vocabulary and concepts:

1) You'll learn a ton from forums and websites and quickly pick up the vocabulary and concepts

2) Most of what people "explain" is about 10% correct and 90% at least partially incorrect. There is a lot of factual error, unfounded dogma, heresay, anecdotes, incomplete understanding, and posturing.

3) You read things in proportion to their controversy and in proportion to how loudly and frequently people talk about them, not in proportion to how important they are.

Bottom line:

1) Read a lot

2) Be a skeptic about everything you read -- and be open minded, because everyone is biased

I'm by no means exempt ;)

I post on another forum where, among other people, there is a lens tester for Zeiss and a film chemistry engineer for Kodak. When they say things, I believe them. Everyone else, I believe with a grain of salt. :p

My knowledge and the associated vocabulary comes from study, experience, classes and seminars. I've been shooting with SLR's (35mm film, Medium Format and Digital) for about 30 years (Digital SLR's about 8 years - I went full time digital with the release of the Canon D30). Now, whether you choose to believe anything I write or take any advice I offer is entirely up to you (and to how much credance you give DrPablo's advice), but hang around this forum long enough, and you'll be able to determine who are and aren't the experts.

1. My company name is my name.

2. I've been a photographer for a number of years. There's little difference in the verbiage between SLR's and DSLR's. Now Photoshop is an entirely different story! :)

Good advice from all. I have a B/A in photography and have made my living full time in it since 1986. Taught part time a while back/ advanced portrait classes. I've worked with 8X10 & 4X5 viewcameras, medium format, 35 and now digital. Theres allot of misinformation out there.

Hollister was an unknown name until recently. People had to ask how to spell it all the time.

Thanks to abercrombie & fitch I have now brand recognition on %7 of 12-25 year old t-shirt wearers. :P

And I wear said shirts when shooting. I try to get an obscure print so it looks better.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.
