This is the first Redstart that I have caught with a camera. Conditions were tough with some harsh midday light; he was on one side of a canal and I was on the other; and he was pretty far up in a shaded tree.

With all that I still think the images turned out ok. A little cropping (OK a lot) and a little post-processing and voila! Hey, I can tell it's an American Restart :D (which by the way is a member in good standing of the Warbler family).

I'd like you honest opinion on these images. C&C encouraged and welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Great shots Ed. I think I may have seen one the other day. Looked like an orange blur and I thought at first it was a small Oriole. :)

Thanks Mitch. I don't want to go off into a sidebar conversation but this guy was the second bird in two days (the Yellow Warbler yesterday was the first) that visibly flinched the first time the flash fired. Neither bird left but they both did definitely flinch!

Thanks. Yeah, every once in a while you just slip right through to oblivion. I've said it before but being ignored (no comments) is, to me, worse than getting negative feedback. At least with negative feedback, you have some idea of what to work on. But I like positive feedback as well. :D

Thanks. What you don't know is the first minute or two that I watched this guy he kept facing away from me so I ended up taking a couple of shots of his back just in case he flew away and never did turn around. But eventually he did turn around but I had the darn leaf to deal with.

Thanks EZ. Thanks Reyno. Glad you guys enjoyed the Redstart images. Like I said in my original post, I felt the images turned out well but I wasn't as sure as I was with some of the others I posted recently. The Redstart is a small bird and he was a long way off.

So again thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

I would be proud of the Redstart shots. IMO, one of the hardest songbirds to get a good shot of. Great catchlight in the eye. You were dealing with tough shooting conditions and you made the best of it. Good job. Oh, and the Robin is sharp as a razor!

Thank you Bob. I had some questions in my own mind about these images. On one hand I felt they were good but on the other not up to some of my other recent posts. So I am glad to hear that you think they are "worthy".

Thanks Mickey. We've seen Redstarts around here for several weeks now but this was the first I could get a shot of as well. Glad to hear that you like the images.
