I had been using Adobe Gamma to calibrate my monitor and when I get prints from Mpix, they matched!!! I was pretty happy, but I figured maybe there was improvement to be had, so I got a Colorvision Spyder and now my pictures look too bright, especially blacks and skin tones.

I really do not know lots about this stuff, does anyone know why this would be happening?

Did you disable the Adobe Gamma when you used the calibration tool?

I had deleted the adobe gamma from my startup menu and I have also made sure that the color profile I made was loaded into my monitor settings.

I am not sure what to do. Should I uninstall colorvision and just use Adobe Gamma?

First step before giving up, would be trying again... maybe several times... if using LCD, make sure what controls your monitor truly has, and adjust those accoring to instructions... don't forget to let monitor warm up also.

Also, try downloading the printer profiles for Mpix printers (available by request from Mpix), and then make sure that you're "soft proofing" your images to that profile before printing. That may help...

According to the Adobe forums Adobe Gamma isn't even offered anymore. They said that is because it sucks. I will let you read into that what you want. ;) My monitor looks loads better with my Spyder2Express than with Adobe Gamma.

Cubix Rube has a very important point regarding the printer profile for the vendor. Also when you change the color space for your image to the vendors profile, insure that you use "convert" and not "assign "or you can get some very unpleasant results.

I have a Viewsonic G225f CRT monitor. Everything looks too bright on it, not just my pics, so I know something is up.

How old is the monitor?
Does your spyder allow you to adjust the brightness and contrast before you adjust colors?
