Birds at night

Adding a 580EX flash to my 30D and 400L brings the night to life.


There are about 4 Tawny frogmouths in my area and they are quite used of me to the point where I can now get very close and photograph them within 5 meters.
It was the eye that made this picture.

Great captures. That first picture is neat. Night bird shots...can't say that I have seen them before....

how on earth do u even see them at nite? id have a hard time finding them during the day! great shots and on the first shot, i think you woke him up.

I do a lot of night driving in the bush when at work and take my camera. They are birds of habit and very easy to find once you know their usual perches. Much more approachable at night than day.

Really nice shots. How do you focus!?! I only ask because i'm playing with the idea of getting a flash, so i can try to get a shot of the local Nightjar's.
