Hi,

My first post here. Wanted to put up a picture for comments.

Taken with a G2, auto settings. Cropped with photoshop with few minor enhancements.

Is this a FedEx advertising
A good photo with a dramatic sky, but too usual for my taste.
You could try sell this one to FedEx

If there was only the fedex vehicle the shot could work, otherwise it's rather bland with too much going on to be of interest...if you ever need to isolate an are and remove cars easily and so forth do this.

Make sure you are using your tripod and shoot the shot you want (this one) but also take 4 or 5 shots form the exact same position and exposure but when the cars have moved, then you can throw them into PS and take the areas with no cars and place them over the areas with cars you want get rid of....pie! Then you're left with a fed-ex truck in a good shot.

Accidental? There is no accidental thinks in advertising business  It's just your chance to earn some easy money!
Cheers!

the main idea here was to capture the mood of gloomy sky after a rain and to gain depth by having the road and streetlights merge in the distance.

since most of the discussion here seems to revolve around the FedX truck, aparently that mission wasn't accomplished.

thanks all for your comments.

Now whatcha think about this picture...

Now this one is very dark and the symbolism is very scary, a lone child at the bottom of the stairs, afraid of his abusive father. The door is open to another world and freedom from his father but it is dark and he is just as afraid of telling someone and being free as he is of his father just now coming down the stairs.

The levels need some tweaking, your blacks aren't black and the whites aren't white, but shot you captured is deep and troubling, good work.

wow.. i did all that???

glad it captured the mood though. for a child the agony of a mean parent is not too far from that of not getting what he wants at that very moment.

In this case, it was the latter.

lol yeah i'm sure it was the latter heh but often what makes a good phootgrapher is when something strikes him or her subconsciously and he/she shoots it.

Thing is, with "found" photography there is never enough time to analyze WHY something looks good, but breaking an image down later can reveal amazing subconscious symbolism, that's why I love photography, it's the art of the subconscious.
