When I'm shooting a game I keep the 300 on the 1DN and the 70-200 on the 30D or 20D.

I had a buyer for my 350D at close to the price I paid, which was only three months old when I bought the 30D, but my wife wont let me sell it - she likes it too much and has often come back from outings with a few pictures that put me too shame.

I had the same dilemma after I got my 30D on what to do with my classic Digital Rebel body until one day at my kid’s school I was photographing a school skit with my 70-200 f/2.8 IS and found I was missing shots because the lens was too long. The next school skit I mounted my 24-70 f/2.8 to the Rebel and the 70-200 to the 30D. Life was good! I look a gunslinger with a camera hanging off each shoulder but I get the shots!

Keep the body, you’ll need it someday.

I had the 20d and kept it as backup when i bought the mk2 then i sold the 20d but missed the crop factor so much i bought a 400d as backup then i decided a 5d might be funn as it's FF so i bought one of them as it give's me a diffrent range of lense's - well now i want a 1dmk3 ( if Canon ever make enough ) so i will have that as main camera and 5d as backup / diffrent FOV so then i will sell the 400d ( up for sale now ) and then sell the mk2 . up for sale soon .

I like the convenience of carrying two bodies, one for long, the other for short. And I gotta have a second to take pics of the first. You wouldn't want to task that to a P&S, would you? Heh heh

As from 2 weeks from now. Infrared photography :)

I have an XTi now and I am thinking about getting an XT just for that purpose.

-If you have older kids or a wife/girlfriend then they could use the extra camera.
-As other have said it would be nice to have 2 cameras with telephoto on one and wide on the other.
-It coule be an extra camera to use if the 5D needs repair.
-Cheaper camera to use in times that you don't want to big the 5D along. (Kinda like I still use my P&S at times when I don't wanna risk taking my DSLR).
-Extra reach with the crop factor. May not be much, but more then the 1.4x TC gives.

Just a few ideas.

40D with BG-E2N grip | XTi with BG-E3 grip | 430EX
EF 100-400 F4.5-5.6 L IS | EF 70-200mm f4 L IS | EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS | EF-S 18-55mm Kit Lens | EF 50mm f1.8

When I upgrade, the XT will become the camera the kids can use, looking foward to going shooting with my boys actually...

When doing a wedding I have the 24-105 F4 IS on my 5D and the 70-200 F2.8 IS on a 30D. So in effect I have at hand a range of 24mm to 300mm without changing lenses. I have stopped carrying a heavy bag around full of loads of lenses plus bits and pieces. I no longer carry a tripod around either, even for nightime shots. I am not as versatile as I was but I get more of those 'once in a lifetime' shots because I am more mobile.

Brides are more interested in you capturing the spirit of the day rather than sharper more varied pictures.

I thought the idea is to have a body for each lens. Well, with 9 lenses I've got 5 more bodies to go and I don't have all my lenses yet ;-(

Last night I took 3 bodies to a dance recital and had to change lenses once too often ...that's worse than the need to change CF cards.

...and I'm only a hobbiest whose been reading this forum too often for too long.

My old D60 serves as backup, and while the 5D has the 24-105 on it for my events, the D60 has the 70-200 that I use for candid shots.
