Have been trying to figure out what is going on but really running into some obstacles on this site. First, I can't see anybodys aviatars (tried uploading mine again to no avail). Only way that I can respond to a thread is by "quick reply". I was able to start a new thread and all the options are invisible (can move my cursor over the area that they are in and I can get blue boxes to appear. Have cleared my cache, rebooted and still stuck. No smiley faces or pictures of icons underneath this box. Other than that...things are just great!!

By the way, I have gone to other sites that use similar setups and I have no problem...everything works so it is probably something in my setup.

Any thoughts?

regards,

John

Go into User CP. Select 'User Options.' Scroll down to 'Thread Display Options,' and make sure 'Show Avatars' is checked. That could take care of one of your problems.

I go into CP and select "edit avatar" and that is where I try to up load mine. No go. This all started this afternoon when the server was having difficulty letting me on...said it was busy.

Ok, I have another computer here at home and everything works fine. Have looked at both CP's and they appear to be running the same. The avatars are there but I just cant see them. When I move mouse over them and click it takes me to that persons profile.
Any thoughts people?

Make sure your browser allows images from https://photography-on-the.net. It's on the settings of your browser somewhere.

Think I have it narrrowed down for I just downloaded IE7 and everything seems to be working well. I have Firefox on the other computer and it is working well so it looks like something in my browser on this computer is not functioning or set right. Probably the easiest thing to do would be to take Firefox off and reinstall. My only question now is will I loose all my favorites and bookmarks. Will wait a while and if anybody can respond to that question please respond.

Try first this: open Tools -> Options, click "Content", click "exceptions" next to "load images automatically" (should be ticked on). Empty that list of exceptions if you have sites there.

Saving bookmarks in Firefox 2:

Open Menu
- Bookmarks: organize bookmarks

Bookmarks Manager opens, there open menu
- file: export

This will export your bookmarks to plain html file which you can open with any browser.

Now this is just weird....POTN was blocked. How did that happen? Anyway, that solved the problem and I have everything back in order. Things were really screwed up for sure. Wasn't getting avatars to show...reply boxes were missing various parts and so on.

Thank you for helping. Maybe others can learn from this too.

;)

John
