Hello Pekka,

First, a huge amount of thanks and appreciation for providing and maintaining these forums. You have helped countless of us feed our passion and further our skills, and we should not idly stand by and not send, at the very least, a quick note of thanks for your sacrifice and effort on our behalf.

I would also like to ask if you might consider setting up a separate forum for B/W photography. It seems like there is a huge amount of interest in this style, and I wonder if it might not be time to separate B/W from the Still Life, B/W, and Experimental forum.

About three months ago, I set up a poll to guage the amount of interest in a separate B/Wforum. Here it is ........

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=286408

If you read through, one of the moderators made a good case for why this might not be such a good idea. However, I still belive it might be, and thus I'd like to request this of you on behalf of all those who responded to the poll.

I also did some research on the number of B/W posts within that same forum, and discovered that the postings for B/W outnumbered all the others by practically the same ratio reflected by the poll, 3:1.

I do believe that participation in a B/W only forum would be huge, and would further provide a huge resource for those of us interested in this style.

I don't want to make this any longer than necessary, so I'll keep it short, and just say thanks again for your efforts, and for your consideration of this request.

With Best Regards,
Andy Garcia

I agree. I have always thought that bw/experimental was an awkward fit. I would support a mono forum separate from experimental.

[Also, I would be interested in what "experimental" should be. Experimental processing, unusual set ups? Because just about anything could be experimental, depending on if we have done it before or not. (I have a nice portfolio of equestrian/western shots from the ranch. If someone decides to visit for the first time, does that make their horse shots experimental?]

But then again, I would also support a permanent ban for life for posting a selective color shot as well.
