I think this is a Great Blue Heron that I came across this weekend. He posed very nicely for me! C&C appreciated.

What's that in the water slightly further back? Doesn't look friendly.

If the smell was any clue, I think it was a dead carp. I saw quite a few of them in there. Apparently when the water is high the carp can get into the reserve from the river but when the water recedes back into the river, they get trapped and eventually die. The smell was horrendous!
