I would have to take it back, the store that you bought it from should put you at the front of the line for a replacement.

For that much money I wouldn't want one that broke on day 2 or so.... even if it was repaired, I would be forever worried about it,

The other thing to concider, is yours would probably be the very first repair job, so the would get to learn on your camera.... not such a good idea in my book.

Actually they'd be filling pre-orders first. Why should a guy who's already paid up front or put a deposit on or at the very least requested one early and expected it have to wait even longer because some poor yutz got a broken one? ;)

Because the poor yutz got a broken one.... The guy that gets pushed back didn't have it in the first place. The store should stand behind what it sold before selling more. Just MHO

They should stand buy their pre-orders. Anyone with a broken camera, while I think they should return it to the store for exchange, does have other options like a factory warranty or return for money back. Someone who's been waiting months, possibly having already paid, should not have to wait even longer. If I had a Mark III on pre-order (I don't), and I already laid the money down for it (I didn't), I would NEVER go back to that store if they sold out from under me because someone else had bad luck. And I'm not one to boycott stores.

That's fair enough. But if I was the one that had the bad camera, that I had pre ordered, and paid for long ago as well, if they didn't stand by what they sold me, and replace it as soon as they had another, I would then be the one boycotting said store. (as with you, I am lucky enough that I am not in either position)

I think we both have equally valid sides, and neither of us is right or wrong.

Yeah either way it sucks for OP and I wish him the best getting his problem resolved as quickly as possible and with the least amount of hassle.

It does it without a lens even attached. If i go to manual clean it makes a tiny little click noise but never flips the mirror up to expose the sensor. So either somehting with the mirror or shutter mechanisiom is broke or disconnected.

I never got one shot with it. I took it out of the box, stuck the battery on charge went out to eat dinner, came back put battery in. Did not attach a lens yet, spent 30 minutes going throught he menus. Then I hit the shutter button and it gave a error 99 then made a sound like it was going to attuate. Thought weird, turned it off stuck a lens on it turned it on everytime i push the shutter button it give a error 99 then makes a tiny little sound like it wants to attuate but doesnt.

Oh well, I am over the crying calling them when they open see if they have another one in stock LOL, LOL again. Guess since canon reapir seems not to be favorable by most of the answers I got here I will just return it for ewither exchange or refund.

Just curious but is it possible that the cameras software has messed up? Did you try taking all of the batteries out, including any "time/date" battery that the MK III may have, to essentially reset the camera?

this is a very bad start and Canon should make great effort to replace the camera even if it meant them sending one overnight to replace it.
hope your sorted out very soon .
i intend getting one but thing's like this make me glad i decided to put it off a few week's.

Bah mine is probably one out of whatever to have an issue out of the box. I am sad but I am sure it is not the beginning of a wave of issues.

Try and push (hard) for a replacement from dealer. With the roll-out just starting, spare parts stock MAY be low - after this you don't need a long delay getting rolling again.
