I just downloaded the readme file for ACR 4.1 (external link) and found this within the document:

Lightroom and Camera Raw will be updated together to ensure raw format and settings compatibility. For each update there can be a brief period of time when one product is released before the other. Please note that Camera Raw 4.1 has been released in advance of Lightroom’s next update that will be available shortly.

Good.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

The LR 1.1 update is not yet available to the public, and there's no doubt it will be plastered all over the web the moment it is available.

ACR 4.1 is for CS3 only, but any changes you make in LR 1.0 can be read by ACR 4.1, so there's no compatibility problems in that direction. Any changes you make to the new sliders in ACR 4.1 cannot be read by LR 1.0 (previous sliders are fine), but will be fully compatible once LR 1.1 is released.

LR uses the ACR engine, but it's actually built in to LR, so installing the ACR 4.1 won't have any effect on LR.
