Free Subscriptions to these nice magazines. Make up some answers to their lame questions. If it does not accept you, then try something else. The deal works. No extra junk mail. Basically these magazines are given away to pros in the business to up advertising revenue. Might as well take advantage of it, since we are a good target market.

Enjoy:

I have gotten subscriptions to both of those mags, and also Popular Photography & Imaging thru this same site. Once you go thru their process you occasionally get email offers from them for other magazines. I get the email offers at the office I work at (not photography related), and last time I got the choice of a different mailing address for the magazines, so I now have them sent to my home.

The same for me. Everything I try, I am unable to get Outdoor Photographer, even when I choose photographer as my profession/industry.

When I first filled out their questionaire, I did it from work so filled it in accordingly. I am the Office Manager in a dental office. Try something like that!

Well, I tried just about everything. I got PC Photo, but couldn't get anything to work for Outdoor Photography. :(

Not even Canada. When I get to the address part, it actually says:

"At this time, subscriptions are available only to qualifying residents of the 50 U.S. States and the District of Columbia"

What a pain in the butt! I had to use two different emails.
I'm probably going to have buy a bigger mailbox now, too.

Are these for real magazines delivered in the mail or electronic magazines delivered via email? I applied for PC Photo and was accepted but when I was offered a few other magazines to try applying for I noticed that they were for electronic version of magazines that I know is sold off the shelves. That's when I exited out since I didn't want to get bombarded with more junk and spam mail. I have more than I care for now as it is. :(

Real paper magazines sent to your mailbox. I've used this deal a few times to get stuff. Have not noticed a large influx in extra junk mail as a result. Once in a while, I will get an offer for other magazines through this site to my email, but you can then opt out and they stop sending you emails. This is not that big of deal guys. It's free and it works. 8)

A few minds...

PC Photo and Outdoor are real mags, as well as quite a few of the others offered in the course of the questionaire though some of the subscriptions are download only.

This particular questionaire is "Technology" driven even though the hook line is Photography. I've submitted identical questionaires for magzine offers of other interests and the question criteria and structure are identical. There are more than just Technology/IT related keys that'll further the questionaire and result in a free subscription but by far the more successful submissions are tech related; management and director related at that. The lion's share of market research revolves around the technology sector and marketing groups paying for magazine subscriptions and/or gift rewards is much more successful in data collection than cold call centers and bulk mailings.

Even if you complete the questions presented the subscription approval is still up to an separate approval process (based on your score as compared to the marketing data being mined) but ALL of the applications received are leveraged for a wide range of market analysis. This database is made available to entities whom pay for access to the data and or request specific market criteria.

I'm of two minds about the process. One, you DO have a good chance of receiving free material ('free' as in not putting a dollar value on your time to complete the answers). Two, your data IS used for their data mining even if you don't "qualify" for the reward advertised. (*Note, you might fit very well into criteria other entities are paying to harvest from the database but you won't be contacted for compensation from those interests). Alright, I'm of three minds about it; the third mind being that of media statistics reporting. Three, this is also one of the available 'credible' sources to media and news publications for reporting. Have you ever wondered where some of the statistics come from when a reporter/journalist/whomever states "of 10,000 people polled", or "the technology sector anticipates growth in...". Even considering that this type of 'research' data is culled and filtered for false positives, error correction and filler I don't know that I'm comfortable with it being the structure behind a not small amount of numbers presented to the public as 'news worthy' statistical analysis.

All right. That's all of my minds about it. That said, I look forward to receiving the PC Photo magazine and a downloadable Computer Gaming ezine. Ahh crap, that ezine requires a download. More bloatware...

Uh oh, another 'mind' just poked its ugly head. Last week I drafted an 'acceptable use' policy for corporate resources/computer equipment. Hmmm, my answering that questionaire and writing this dissertation suddenly has become not quite so 'free" :).

Looking forward to getting that Mag though! :D

It is what it is...

Well, got my one photo magazine out of the way and now onto Outdoor Photography.

The great thing is I didn't have to try and find a winning combination. I run a magazine with 5 other people and I just had to find something similar to the 'job duties". Looks like a Board member of a non-profit magazine is a winner :)

I can't wait to get all the other email junk in my inbox now {/sarcasm}. Eh, it is worth it for the free subscription.
