Since when is Asia (China) NOT in the northern Hemisphere?

No, but it is in the eastern Hemisphere!!

Not Africa... that's mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere as well.

Which should narrow it down the the Northwest... quadrasphere?

[edit]And contrary to popular belief, there's a lot more than just the US in it ;-)a [/edit]

The Panama Canal? It's been way too long since I went through there, and I can't remember if there were any bluffs like this.

Not the Panama Canal, but you're getting warmer! In fact, that's the closest guess so far.

Let's try a bit further Northwest from there.

Interesting choice. The body of water you see is in many aspects similar to Lake Mead, but you're in the wrong area of the Northern Hemisphere.

Hmmm. Similar in many aspects to Lake Mead.... what does that mean? Lake Mead is a man-made lake that was created by flooding a canyon....

Lago de Apanas, Nicaragua? (Google Maps link here (external link))
Infiernillo Lake, Mexico? (Google Maps link here (external link))
International Falcon Reservoir, on the Rio Grande, Mexico? (Google Maps link here (external link))

These feel rather obscure to me, but I can't think of anything better...

YES!!!

Allright, we're getting somewhere. With some good detective work, it should go fairly quickly now.

If no one's got it figured out by the time I crawl out of bed tomorrow, I'll give you a couple of big hints.

Very good, Stewart! That's the kind of thinking I'm talking about. You are correct, it is a man made lake (or, leads to one a bit downriver, around the corner from where the shot is looking) created by damming a river for hydroelectric power.

It's none of the ones you mentioned, though, sorry.

Chiapas de Corozo ?

We have a wiener!!

The canyon is actually called CaƱon del Sumidero, but Chiapa de Corzo is the town on the river right about that location, so I'll take it =D

Oddly enough, and I noticed this after posting the photo, the previous shot I posted for WAIN was Palenque, some Mayan ruins that are in the same state as this one.

Back to you, Roy!
