OK here is the irony as I saw it: This village is a hot spot for cruise ships. The cruise ships have tours set up by the bus load taking mainly US tourists from the port up to the village.
They promote this tour as a slice of Germany in Venezuela. In the brochures they talk up how authentic it is, the German cusine, bavarian beer, on and on.
Well we get there and OK it is (was) a village first settled by the Germans, but that's about the end of it. Now everyone there living and working is Venezuelan, the food etc might have a German name but not much more. All the tourists shops sell German nit nacks, but they are ALL made in China. It was funny the whole atmosphere we paid to see.
