Title says it all. I shoot only children and maternity. I LOVE my 85 1.2L, but I sometimes(well, alot of times) would like more reach. Is the zoom something I would do better with in my field, or should I just stick with my primes?

TIA!

Both! I use my 70-200 a lot for portraits. I use my 85 as well.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

It's a matter of preference. I wouyld not sell the 85 1.2L if that's what you mean. If you want to add the 70-200 2.8 that's fine but I would also consider the 135L and 200L for about the same price. Depends on whether your a zoom guy or a prime guy. Both will work.

Thanks for the opinions...I would love to hear more. And yes, I guess that's what I was considering, selling the 85 1.2 for the zoom. I'm not really a zoom gal, as I never feel they are as sharp, but I am hearing wonderful things about this zoom;) I can't even rent it, as it's never in stock!
