Looks like a Black-backed Gull but nor sure if it is a Greater or a Lesser.

If I may make a suggestion... this looks more like a photo of a rock with a gull on it than a photo of a gull on a rock, if you know what I mean. Now it depends on what you wanted to accomplish with this shot. (I've been on both sides of this "argument"!) If it is the former (A rock with a gull on it) then it is fine. If it is the latter, I would crop it more from the bottom to leave just the top of the rock exposed and accentuate the gull. But obviously it is your vision and your call.

...Well I usually don't even attempt Gull id's but I am thinking yours is actually a Glaucous-winged Gull?? Shooting gulls is tough, the whites appear a bit "hot" to me... I either try to shoot early AM or pray for clouds, still a nice shot, gotta love that sunshine while it lasts!:)

"just" a seagull on a rock? no its more then that, its JUST A SEAGULL on a ROCK!! great shot, he never looked soo good. i hope u sold him an 11x14 blow up of this shot!
