Thanks Wayne and Deb. Wayne, wasn't smoking anything and I'd be afraid to eat a mushroom. :)

Deb, I think that's right. :)

Hey Mitch-
Awesome shots as usual. I don't use magic sticks (yet) but grape jelly and oranges work GREAT to attract these beauties, too. I just got my new 30D and 300 mm f/4L:D and man am I in need of a lot of practice:oops: . Here's one oriole at the jelly.

I'm not sure that mushrooms, caterpillars, magic, etc. are allowed on this board. Aside from that, these are awesome full frame images. Well done, Mitch. --Rick

Thanks Shirley. The sticks have paid for themselves many times over. :)

Michele, I was wondering what to do with the jelly. I got a jar, and some oranges, but I just peeled the orange and put the slices out on the lawn table and got no takers. The jelly I just smeared on the bark of one of my stumps. It just turned hard and rubbery by the next day and the orange just dried out. So tell me what your doing with it. Looks like the jelly is in a bowl. How often do you have to check it? Maybe I'll have some luck now that an oriole is actuially here. :)

Thanks Rick. These shots made my day. ;)

Thanks Chris. I've found that rather than chasing birds around, if you just set up the environment they like, they will eventually come to you. "Build it and they will come" seems to be a good concept. :)

I'm kind of getting antsey for the winter eagles to come back myself. Can't wait to see what the Bigma will do with them. ;)

Sounds like a wonderful adventure you've had. Great advice from the caterpiller :)

That last shot is my favorite I like the darker background :) Really pops on my screen!

Beautiful shots - what a gorgeous bird! I have only seen Bullock's Orioles...So you were only talking to a catierpillar, when I read your title, I thought perhaps you had eaten the mushroom;) BTW, you don't need to peel the oranges, simply slice it in half and hang them on a stick, a tree branch works very well. For the grape jelly, it works better if you serve it in a small dish and you have to change it daily. Good luck.:)
