I realize based on the experience in this forum that this will sound really elementary but I don't really know what Raw is nor the benefit of shooting RAW. I shoot JPEG and always have. What is the difference? I use the EOS 1 Mark IIn. I have only recently switched to digital so I am re-learning my trade. I like to do a lot of Post event processing. Would RAW files be easier to deal with?

RAW will definately give you more latitude for your post processing (not necesscarily EASIER)

Check this thread from yesterday:

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=327622

Also check the FAQ at begining of this section, there is a thread in there with alot of references to RAW.

Beyond that you have alot of reading to do! Also, do you know which converter/software you are likely to use? If so someone can likely point you to some good tutorials or info.

If you're not sure which, you're sure to get deluged with tons of suggestions! :)
