Any recommendations if I were shooting automobile races (road racing and drag racing) and airshows?

Hello, I have the 1DmkIII, I almost do not use it, I only use it to make some sports photography in AI SERVO, but if I use ONE SHOT and I focus a person in the eyes many photos are with the focus erratic and others are fine. I guess it's not normal, because my 5DMKII focuses much more accurately. Regards,
