Trade your 70-200 f2.8L for a 70-200 f2.8L IS?

I have an opportunity to trade my 70-200 f2.8 L for one with Image Stabilization and probably about $500 canadian money.

I am wondering if this is a fair trade for both parties as the one willing to give me her IS lens doesn't use IS at all and always uses a tripod in low light. And I on the other hand don't use a tripod and usually shoot hand held.

Does this sound like a fair deal?

What are you waiting for?

If you decide IS isn't for you, just turn it off.

What about the one occasion when she really wants IS and has traded it away. Dave is right, just turn it off if you don't want it.

I traded my 70-200 f/4 L IS for a 70-200 F/2.8 L IS and $200 CDN. Considering that the Canadian dollar is nearly at par now, it translates to $463 USD.

I think you're paying a bit much to swap that lens considering the 2.8 is $100 more than the F/4 IS.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.
