These 2 Emus were shot at an adventure park and sanctuary recently. The 2nd one is of a young Emu that had been put into a seperate pen to protect it from the adults. The reflection in it's eye is of my son reaching over a barrier to pat it.

That's what I thought too, but we have several in our small town zoo, and the beak is kind of soft and they don't bite. At least not yet. Mitch- ____...^.^...____

Jun 02, 2007 19:17 | #5 The adults in the main enclosure were very territorial and quite aggressive, which is why this little guy (well, young. When I say little he was still 5.5 feet tall) had been seperated. And he had a great nature. Loved being touched and would fall asleep while my boys hands were stroking his neck. Currently just a P&S, but watch this space.

Jun 02, 2007 19:40 | #7 Actually that's my son in the 2nd shot, reaching over the railing to pat the Emu. On a 100% crop you can make me out in the distance behind him though. Currently just a P&S, but watch this space.
