If we decide on Bend:

I will submit the Cascade lakes scenic byway for consideration...

We wouldn't have to do the whole thing... I just know there is some beautiful country out past Mt. Bachelor...

Smith Rocks is another option.. It is really pretty out there too nice red cider colored rock..

I happen to agree.. but I am biased because I have friends there.. even if Bailey isn't home yet :) SO I will stay out of the deciding for now.. I will just put forth Ideas of places I have wanted to go over there, but haven't had time.

Well, I am probably going to reserve a campsite here http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_45.php (external link)

So I will be around for the night glow on the 9th and the morning launch on the 10th.

So I would be around all day the 9th for going around, and then part of the day the 10th....

Ok, so it looks like the 9th.. I will give Bailey's parents a call and see what is going on. I will probably stay over and help them with their deck on the 10th... But I will give them a call and see what happens.

This sounds good. There are some more logistical details to iron out, however. Are we carpooling? Caravaning? Who's going over early, and who's going over just for the day? Where are we meeting? Scott, can you post that link again for the balloon fest thing so that we can have directions? When are we meeting? Let's clarify.

I am down for clarifying.. I just figured I would solidify the ground rules, so to speak, so that we can figure out the rest.

But that will have to wait till tomorrow...

Since we all have different routes to Bend I would say that the Willamette crew figure out how they are getting over (carpooling, caravaning, etc).

Since Riley will stay Queen Bailey's house and I will be camping at a state park we will take seperate cars.

I plan on heading over early on the 9th and staying till noon on the 10th.

Looks like we are going to meet at the Crooked River Bridge - and go from there. Do you guys (and Gal) have any places that you would care to see?

The main ones are Crooked River Bridge, Smith Rock, Lake Billy Chinook, and Riley knows some more I bet. There is the Cascade Lakes Highway by Bend - that has Sparks Lake and a few others -- then there is the balloons...

Plus there is Prinville that is around 25 miles from Bend (but fairly close to Smith Rock) where there are wild mustangs (I know Permie wanted to see those)

There might be some bird areas, but I am unsure of them.

Also, what time does everyone feel willing to meet?

Looks like a 2.5 hour drive for those in the Salem area - so if we chose an early time like 8 or 9 you guys would have to be up fairly early!

Also, there is no reason we can't carpool from a central meeting place if we decide to drive around the countryside...
