Lovely shot. Very nicely exposed in what looks like difficult lighting. Too bad about the tip of the tail, but it's so small it hardly matters. Great photo.

Thanks for the comment Shirley. Yes I was in rush cos it was just hanging under the pergola and was pretty close, so I missed the tail, bummer. Should have taken my time more though. I was kinda nervous cos this was the largest Kookuburra I have seen in my yard, so I was kinda excited to capture it. It flew not long after.

I was relieved the exposure came out alright cos the sun rays coming quite strongly from the background.

When we were in Australia some years ago, I looked all over for one of these guys to photograph. Guess they aren't that common in Queensland.

What the ... LOL. No way. They have taken quite a few of them and I think that is why they grew so big lol.

I have seen them taken my fish and flew away. They are not taking any more for sure.

God willing ...

They are common in the bushland I think. Homes next to parks get a bit of the treat of seeing them. I have these birds quite often come to my backyard, on clothes line most of the time. Especially if there are fish in the pond LOL.
