I went by Pro Photo Supply this morning and held a 10D for the first time  . It got worse, the sales guy then put a 24-70 L lens on it and let me take a few pictures! Then he pulled the 70-200 2.8L IS off the shelf and let me hold it....stop, stop, I said, I can't take it!

Needless to say, I was impressed. Hearing, reading and viewing these things online just doesn't do them justice.

As I got back to my car (which was several blocks away :D ) I pulled out my faithful FinePix S602Z, she didn't feel so nice anymore. I walked around a little and snapped a few shots to try and rekindle the flame...I didn't work, all I could think about was the 10D with the L glass.

My S602Z knew something was wrong, I couldn't hide it. I tried to fool her, taking vertical as well as horizontal shots, buildings, flowers, cars, but I was just going through the motions...and she knew it  !

Now, to convince my wife that Mac & Cheese every day really is good for the kids :) .

Thanks (I think  ) to GPR1 & RFMSports for the Pro Photo Supply recommendation.

 To have 10D fever at the same time you get "L" fever? :( WOW! I feel for you!

Just let me warn you ... you'll most likely have a number of sleepless nights now. When you do sleep, you'll awaken abruptly with very bad nightmares.

I might make one suggestion, can you afford the 10D and the "L" if you sell a kid? Not the best idea, I know, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Good luck!

PS ... Write a nice note to your wife BEFORE you go mad over the next few days ... Maybe she'll understand.

Yep, I have the 10D and both the 24-70 2.8L and 70-200 2.8L IS and they are a great combination. It's a good thing they didn't put a 100-400 on there for you to try out.

I've been to Pro Photo a few times but I don't get over that side of Portland very often.

Ahahahaha, oh man, we are so in the same boat right now. I told my wife about your story, and she said, "He sounds just like you! Ever since you tried out the Canon lenses a while ago, you never touch your Olympus C3030Z anymore--in fact, it's obvious you are positively repulsed by your C3030Z, and think about nothing but Canon bodies and lenses." To that, I answered my wife, "Well, I did give her 3 happy years of romance and excitement." Then she said, "You men are all the same!." LOL!

Tell her that Top Ramen is also a struggling photographer's food group.

And you're welcome on the recommendation. They're great people there and could care less what kind of clothes you wear (referring to the previous thread). I have never heard anything bad about them.

Now, however, you are hopelessly hooked.

Yes we are in the same boat right now. I will still continue to take pictures with the Fuji and will use those pictures to remind my wife about how much better they could have turned out if I had a "real camera" .

The S602Z has been a great camera for me when I wasn't taking photography too seriously and will still serve a purpose. Like you said, I have given my Fuji a couple of years of romance and excitement. The time is coming soon though for a new relationship.

Since I have a little time on my hands (i.e. not enough money) before I can upgrade I will wait and see what develops with the 10D replacement. If it is actually in June then it could be a good time to get some new technology or pickup a 10D for a little less money.

Good luck convincing your wife

Try adding a slice of cheese to your Ramen, or slice up a hot dog and throw it in the mix. Potato chips on your turkey sandwich. A little can of peas and some "leftover" fire sauce from Taco Bell in your mac and cheese.

These brilliant recipes can feed your stomach while a nice camera and fast glass will feed your soul.
