Nice captures of a bird i find to be quite skitish. I think a little more contrast would make these pop nicely. The 3rd image is my favourite in the group.

Thanks Gary. I'll keep working on the contrast, I appreciate your comments. I really like #3 also. I'm about ready to break down and by the better beamer to make those eyes shine.

Nice shots Bill. We have a few around, but they have been scarce the last few days.

Thanks Mitch. They usually don't sit like this for me, that's why I called it a portrait.

Very nice. 2 seems to be the best one. What's your setup? 100-400?

Glad you like the posts. I used a 100-400L on a monopod. I was seated and on the deck and the little guy posed on a stick that I had placed between two of the feeders.

Nice series. I second the contrast comment, but good job overall.

These are all strong captures and quite honestly I like the contrast...a subdued feeling. Nice use of the 100-400.

I agree, I just got some shots of a pair of adults feeding their chicks, and it was not easy.

I only wish they were as sharp as the above, but I have a lot to learn. Great job on the above photos, I am envious.

Pretty good use of back-light! No need for a flash here but a reflector might have been just what the Doctor ordered.:)

Cooper911, thank you. I really like this lens. The more I use it, the more confident I feel with the quality of the images it can produce.
