Such a 'sweet' looking bird and well disguised for the environment but why are they called a Killdeer ?

Thanks Mitch, BoxBrownie and Phil! Much appreciated -- definitely blends in with that background. As far as the name, I really have no idea, I think it's related to (or is) the plover family, so name seems funny.
