Alrighty, this might be bending the rules a bit... BUT. I am trying to help my Girlfriend (some of you all know her, Bailey...) with a survey she has to do for class. The problem is, that her dorms tend to empty out on the weekend so there is no one to really ask.

SOO, I have turned to POTN.

The question is, Should community service be required for college graduation...

Please just make an answer... DON'T TURN THIS INTO A DISCUSSION please :). Just make some sort of acknowledgement that you voted so the thread doesn't die :).

Thanks A LOT in advance...

MODS: If I am pushing the rules too far, please let me know and it can go away :)

No, that's really dumb. You shouldn't force someone to do community service because they'll probably end up doing a crappy job.

I think it's quite silly to force someone to do community service, unless they've committed a crime. Rather, why not have class projects to do certain things in your area. Beautification!

'Volunteering' is by definition a freely given activity ... you add 'must do it for graduation' conditions and really it degrades the notion.
