Almost every social exchange/interaction is ultimately for selfish reasons, help the aged? makes you feel better.
Feed the homeless, makes you feel better, look at me i'm a good person.
The world is full of doogooders with a concience to salve.
The truly great of heart have no need to broadcast their good deeds or build tangible monuments to their generosity. Neither do they have a need to attempt to discredit or belittle others opinions or character because they disagree with them.
The difference with this forced work is it's others getting the feelgood jollies for your (the students) sweat and time. I'm a great person I set 3000 students to help rebuild/work our community, they needed it. Their lazy and it builds character. haha yea right, very judgemental it appears to me and good social points for no personal sweat.
sblais, no my friend I hate no man. I learned the hard way life is far too short to go around hating or judging others, neither should we impose our ideals on them. I respect your views, just don't agree with them, but then I'm only advocating a free choice here.
Last time I was in university was approx 13 yrs ago, there was no forced volunteer work, would doubt there is any kind of program here now.
Work experience is not forced volunteer work (if such a thing exists) Work experience is a great way of learning from the professionals on many levels and equipping the student with valuable experience he will use in his chosen profession.
So to clear things up, explain to me please how every student gets exactly the work he requires to do? I assume there are a set amount of places for the students? what happens when the good/relevant assignments/positions are taken? does young john/joan get the crap at the bottom of the barrel? or does he just have to suck it up and not graduate?
Quite worrying really for society as a whole that anyone would want to enforce their ideals on others because they think others need it.
There are 10 types of people that understand binary, those that can and those that can't.
