what does this error msg mean?

Hi Everyone
I just finished calibrating my monitor for the first time, using Spyder2 Express. Everything went fine, it even said at the end that my monitor was calibrated. But right after the last click this message popped up and I have no idea what it's talking about...

"Sorry, no calibration data was found in the profile HP f1905 for display Hp f1905 Flat Panel Monitor. Please select a different profile using Profile Choose (1168)"...

Is there something I need to do? Help!

Windows, right?

right click on your desktop, select properties, settings, click the advanced button, choose color management, and select the spyder2 profile.

oh, then either restart, or go to start menu, programs, startup; then select colorvision startup

I went thru the steps you suggested. In the Color Management tab, Spyder2Express was already highlighted. I just clicked ok then restarted my pc. Is there anything else I need to do? Is this message mostly due to it being the first time I calibrated? I appreciate your assistance.

from the colorvision FAQ page they say that it is a common problem for it not to automatically select it in the colormanagement tab for windows, and that affects all calibrators. That's about as much as I know.

Is it working after you restarted, or are you getting the same message?

It booted up normally, I saw the colorvision logo screen flash by at startup. No message. It only popped up on the last step of my going thru the calibration process. It's in the color management area now. After all those steps, I printed a picture after the calibration. Compared it to the same pic I printed BEFORE the calibration....looks the same to me. Anyway, I appreciate your help. Thanks.

If no settings changed, the picture SHOULD print out the same I believe. The image on the monitor, however could look different than it did before...

often, just as the colorvision message pops up, you may see the screen change colors slightly as it is applied.... or recalibrate, and at the end you have the option to switch back and forth between how the image looked before and after calibration.

One more question...

I notice that Colorvision is now in my StartUp although there is no icon in the task bar. I try and keep only what I need in startup. Can I disable it or will that effect the calibration?

You need to leave that program there. I don't use a Colorvision calibrator, but you need something to load the correction table from the profile into your video card's lookup table. That's what that program will do - load the LUT when you log on to Windows, then quits.
