Well, it looks like I won't get it until Monday. It didn't get scanned out of CDW until yesterday morning at 1am. If it reaches my hub and is scanned then I can go pick it up, but it probably will not get scanned in time and I'll have to wait until Monday.

Oh well, that's okay. It'll make the weekend less hectic...

Here's the gory details...

Take some donuts down to the local UPS hub and see if you can bribe a special delivery late this afternoon. LOL

On shooting sports...If you see it happen then you didn't get it.

too much wait is not very healthy though. Increases blood pressure in the brain causing stres and anxiety :P

LOL! Yeah Jeff...I wish that would help, but until it's actually scanned at the hub, they don't know the exact location of it...

cmM: I have waited this long...One more weekend won't hurt. Like I said it will actually make the weekend less stressful as I was a bit nervous going into a major shoot with no time on the camera.

However, if that baby gets scanned at my hub I am making some phone calls to see if I can snag it today!

I don't know....

Maybe it's all for the best. These are 'money shots' for you, and you probably are just as well not taking any chances on unfamiliarity with your equipment. If you were thinking of charging the battery entroute, that tells me you won't have had much time with the camera; you'd be guessing at a lot of the settings, I'm sure. I found that the controls of the Mk II were not necessarily intuitive based on my experience with the 10D, so a couple days of playing with it might ultimately be worthwhile.

You're right, though. Bummer.

OUT FOR DELIVERY

Remember what life was like before the internet? :D When it arrived, it arrived!

I ordered my 100-400 L a while back, 5 day UPS shipping, shipped on a Wednesday according to UPS Tracking. No hurry and something to look forward to ... the following week

I had decided to take Friday off to do some spring cleaning/yard work. Thought I'd check the computer while I had lunch and ... WHAT? OUT FOR DELIVERY?

Decided I'd spend the little time I had left before it arrived cleaning the front yard, even though it was already done. Every car or truck I heard coming down the road I dropped the rake and ran to the road ... Reminded me of the Ice Cream truck when I was a kid.

One of these days I'm gonna get the yard work done. In the meantime, I don't want to waste my strength and save that for lugging around the 100-400

Tom: Yeah. I've been kinda nervous about that. Being on a shoot with a new camera. But, if I get it, I'll tough it out. I'll set it too...

UPS just called..I will get it sometime today no matter what...Even if I pick it up at the hub I can get it today.

So, I'll be the newb out there tomorrow at the track. Wife will shoot the 10D. Who knows, she might get the money winners this weekend. I'd be proud and equally happy either way.

John: That's so true. I can hear a UPS truck about 3-4 miles away! Especially when I'm expecting a package.

2new: Looks like God is going to deliver... :D

Anyway Tom, I'll just set the camera to the SI settings, shoot shutter priority, fast AI Servo and call it good. No need for special effects or too much experimenting this soon...

Just remember, Jim, if you're going to be doing any 'chimping', you need three hands and four thumbs to press all the buttons necessary to preview and zoom. I think I can hear that UPS truck too.
