After good advise from this forum I have purchased a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 the lens is good, but the only thing I have noticed is that the mount seems to be a little loose, as there is a small amount of turn when the lens is mounted on my 1D.

Is this common with this lens/sigma lenses?

Thanks.
Iain.

Are you talking about the lens to camera mount or the tripod foot?

It shouldn't turn at all on the camera.

My 100-400 turns slightly at the lens mount. It's nothing to worry about.

off topic (but does not merit a new thread): Can any of you guys with the 120-300 verify or refute the claims that this bad boy doesn't actually reach to 300mm?

It's a reality with both my Sigma and Canon lenses. Slight wiggle here and there, no big deal. So long as all the communication is there, you're fine.

At infinity focus it is really close to 300mm. At or near MFD, it seems more like 280mm or thereabouts.
