I noticed in this thread a few photographers taking pictures through the fencing. I understand the comments about JP and his ridiculous fencing. What's stopping you guys taking along a small, lightweight stepladder? Have these been banned from UK tracks..."No animals, no stepladders.."

How about doing something like this...taken from this years NZ Grand Prix at Teretonga.

Yes, that is a house on a hydraulic low loader. Or this...

That's a semi trailer fitted with a grandstand.

Rows of the things giving everyone a great view. Although the fencing is pathetic.

a) With a couple of cameras and a selection of large lenses I have enough to carry around the circuit without bothering with the likes of stepladders

b) I can tell you haven't actually seen theses fences... "small stepladder" isn't really going to hack it, scaffolding or maybe a cherry picker is more like it... These fences are way too high to be in small stepladder territory.

c) I don't like photos take from a a high angle and using a step ladder forces the angles to be too high.

and yes, the conditions of entry for some events does now prohibit stepladders.

No, you're quite right. The 'highest' I saw was at a DTM meet at Donington in the mid 90's. Last time I was at Brands you could step over the fencing.

I suppose it's better for safety but a PITA for spectators.

what about semi trailers ;)

You can take ladders if you fancy your chances, you don't hear of many people being ejected because they're stood on one.

He's firing over the low part at Druids, most of the circuit is fenced like this, except a lot higher at Clearways and about 5-6ft higher to this bloke's left

Can see it from here, ish

If you reckon you could get a decent sized semi trailer near the track @ Brands or Donington, you could well be on crack.

Yeh, and I bet he goes flying when that PA system gets going (looks like it's just the other side of his head - at about the same level!)

Hahahaha Owain, classic

He was ignoring the PA, to be fair it wasn't as annoying as Brian Jones' constant babble that day...!
