After 8 months without shooting a single bird I'm a little rusty. So when the Ospreys disappeared, and I practiced on some gulls.

The rain does something for this shot...

While cruising on the boat we came across an Osprey nest on a pole. She popped her head out to check out the noise. This is a 100% crop.

One of the few shots I actually got of this Osprey. Most of the shots that were in focus had cropped wings. The 500mm is just too long. What a piece of junk.

IMAGE: http://www.itsanadventure.com/postimages/gmos07_67388.jpg

Another where the Osprey was kind enough to fly 30 feet from the boat so I wouldn't crop anything. Thanks!

27 seven feet away, and getting close to the limits of being able to fit the whole bird in with that silly 500mm. Geez, if it weren't for the bird flying far away I wouldn't have gotten any shots!

OK, this is one of the times I was glad to have the 500mm - I almost fell out of the boat trying to get away from this "attack."

On Sunday it was completely overcast, but just bright enough to shoot. This is with the 100-400mm, with it's max aperture of f/5.6, thus requiring ISO 3200.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

Scott, that's the reason God create the 300 f/2.8 IS L and the 1.4x TC. ;)

They'll all good but I really like the 2nd one where the rain did something to the osprey picture (although I just can't place my fingers on exactly what it was that the rain did to the picture  ).
