Do you want your gear to outlive you?

There are quite a few folks from Combat Photogs to Hunters to just the Accident Prone who have found ingenious ways to protect and adapt their cameras to their environment. Camera Armor is makes Body Armor (external link) for your DSLR.

Saw that - pretty slick looking in in Terminator sort of way. But no... my weddings aren't that rough.

Can't really see the use of it around here. Perhaps if I were still on active duty instead of retired. :)

Yeah, I like the idea a lot (In fact I am getting one for my vid-camera, as it is much wimpier than the Still cameras), but I would have to paint it orange or something if they were to be for my photo cameras. I often photograph police with weapons drawn (I don't always know the officers involved), and pointing an unknown green/gray/black object at them that I can aim, would be extremely distracting. I actually like the big white CANON on front, it's saved my bacon a couple of times.

Cheers,

Only if the cake cutting turns into a pastry fight - frosting shrapnel can be deadly to a 5D.

Here is an alternative model....

Protecting the Camera

Obviously, my main concern was that I'd paid over £300 for the camera and I didn't want to break it. I put on my Blue Peter hat and cunningly crafted a fine blend of bubblewrap, toilet roll and parcel tape. The idea was that even if the camera fell from a great height, the camera would be safe. Maybe I should have used more bubblewrap...

The bubblewrap camera protection. Fear my skills.

Now there's an application I would not have thought of. Does he feel it interferes with the controls in any way?

He was showing it to us at the motor racing racing and raving about it. He had a 30D, with the armour on, and said the only problem was that it needed a bit of trimming on the bottom to fit the battery grip. He didn't have the battery grip fitted when I was talking to him.

Cheers,

They come in Red as-well which would suit your needs. I haven't used one before though so I'm not recommending them!
