Hi Guys,
I am going to be shooting some paintball action over the summer and I am wondering what lenses I should be looking at for my Rebel XT. There will be a mix of low light indoor work and sunny outdoor work. I don't have $10k for lenses so I am looking for cheaper options. Is there one lens that could be used for both situtations or do I need two different ones?

i use 70-200mm f/2.8L non IS with a 1.4X on a 30d also a 10-20 UWA on a XT. You can use any lens u want a short focal length means you're gonna have to do some running.

I would suggest a 70-200 f2.8 L non IS for fast indoor action. Then a 28-300 L for outside if you can't get close zoom in and if your real close go wide with out changing lenses or cameras.

different user's pic. same username as the website there. Posted a while back. Not sure what all happened. I think it was just the filter; you can tell the inside elements are ok.

yeah alot of paintball photographers use the same equpiment

usually the lense they use are the 70-200 f/4 for normal but the professionals use the 70-200 f/2.8

I can show you some pictures from a 70-200 f/4 if you would like.

Canon 1DMkIIn with 28-300L IS (and cheap "UV" filter as ablative armor.)

Not cheap, and I'd love to have a stop or more faster, but when you can't really stop the action to swap lenses (or would even want to where paint is flying) nor afford two seperate bodies and lenses, or move around the field much because of the netting (and not being allowed inside the actual playing boundaries) the quick pretty-wide-to-long-telephoto zoom is a lifesaver.

Though before I got that monster, I used a dirt-cheap 75-300 f4-5.6 III zoom that I got used for $125.

Next up: 400/5.6 | 16-35 2.8 | 70-200 2.8 and maybe a 1.4 TC
Wishful thinking: 500/4.0

Does anyone make a filter specifically designed to resist impacts?

Broken UV filters, Paint splatters lens hoods and filters... Are you sure you want to do this?

If so you might want to consider; http://www.adorama.com …camera%20armor&item_no=14 (external link)
