Watch the license very, very carefully.

I think you're not allowed to use the software for any commercial purpose because the license is specific to educational purposes.

I understand what you're saying but correct me if I'm wrong, if I go to a store, attempt to buy a student edition of something and the store doesn't do their part to verify that I'm a student, I don't see how I am in violation of anything. I could always deny that I knew I was buying a student edition of anything...right?

The online companies are much more strict about verification than most retail stores are so I'll give them credit for that.

You know that there are people who will try to buy the cheapest edition of something but I believe it ultimately comes down to the seller to make that verification, not the buyer.

Duty to read and comply with a license falls to you, the purchaser.

And all of the text in those boxes we all blast past as clicks during install is legally enforcable for exactly that reason.

FYI, I author and negotiate licenses all the time -- you violate a license from Adobe, just do your best not to get caught, because if they find out, they have an entire department with a process to handle you quickly and firmly.

By way of definition, knowingly agreeing to a software license you have no intention of complying with is called fraud.

So, FWIW, pony up, pay the price, and sleep well.

;)

How exactly did the installer quit? I imagine it refused the serial?

With the first intallation I entered the s/n. I'm certain it connected to Adobe's online database where it reported the logic board's s/n along with the software s/n. Once it's in their database additional installation attempts result in checking the s/n of software and logic board, and when that fails, the installer quits.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

The Acedemic Superstore verified class schedule and then requested copies of driver's licence and student ID before they would ship Lightroom to me. I am about to get CS3 from them. What is cool, is that as a student's parent it is legit for me to get it. (I guess they know who pays the bills.);)
