...with apologies to those w/dial up connections. I did make them small to minimize the bandwidth.

More on my favorite subjects – easily available, they stay ‘relatively’ still, & don’t run away.
300D, kit lens and a +10 filter, very minimal processing (Levels to restore a full range, USM 200% 0.2-.3 1-2).

I’m trying Photobucket.com as a host. Maybe we won’t have the resizing problem we have at Fotopic. I’ve posted these in the order that I shot them in case anyone is interested in the ‘workflow’. The gaps in the pic #s are a result of duplicate shots, deleted ‘wind shots’, sh*tty shots, etc.

Great subject! Also one of my favorites, but... very difficult to capture in a satisfying way, I have learned. Perhaps since they are so common? Therefore, I have been looking for abstract shots of the flower. You need a special view to make it WOW.

I don't know how you call the two phases of the flower? (phase 1 = yellow flower, phase 2 = "parachutes"). And how do you call those great little "parachutes". (Sorry I'm not a native english speaker  )

I have also experimented with those various angles on the phase 1 flower. I wasn't satisfied with my results so far. DoF was just too limited. I like your first two best, although the background color white on the second (plus10_0035) bothers me a little. On the other hand, that (plus10_0035) is a great example of an unconventional angle on this flower. I was a bit surprised to miss the classic shot from above, which reveals the nice star shape. If you zoom in to exclude the outer petals, this also gives a nice abstract picture.

So, I don't yet know my favorite angle on phase 1. I do however know my favorite angle at phase 2. I posted it a while back at this forum:
https://photography-on-the.net …=145905&highlight=#145905
(In fact, I don't think it's the exact same flower, but it shows a similar phase II form.)

Good luck!

I second that. Twice!

5D and holy trinity of primes. Now the 90mm TS-E TS-E fly bit me. I hate these forums.

As you said, "You need a special view to make it WOW." It's fun to just lay there & explore different views. One leads you to another...

I don't either & I was a Biology major! (40 years ago) There's probably 1,000 common names for them. I just stalk & shoot them & have a few more ideas to try out when the next crop arrives!

I remember when you posted that pic & remember wanting to see a few more! Good job. Post more.

I'm glad you guys liked some of them.

A dandelion is really many tiny flowers bunched together. After a dandelion blooms, each of its tiny flowers produces a seed (dandelion seed). Each seed is attached to a stem with white fluffy threads.
