So, how do I move/copy my programs from my laptop to my new desk top....I do not want to move/copy everything (laptop had a buch of pre-installed BS) I am not even worried about my settings. I just need to transfer stuff like i2E, CS2 and plug ins/actions, Word perfect (need for work), and a bunch of other downloaded stuff....
I have an external HD if that helps....Just need to get stuff onto the new one and up and running!!
Freeware best, but at this point I will pay for something that works!!

THANKS
Marc

Don't you have the original discs you loaded from? Ie2 is available from MS on their site, but cs2 is going to require your discs. The plug-ins and actions you can simply copy over. Documents are simple as well.
Do you have both connected to a network? If so, either share the drive on the laptop and copy that way or create shared folders (just remember to disable/remove the shares once you're done unless you always want folks to have access to your machine when it is on a network). If you've stored everything on your external drive, then you can move it from machine to machine, tho I'm sure you've already thought of that. If not, use it as a huge floppy - copy everything you want moved to it, then from it once it's connected to your desktop.
Nowadays, you can't simply copy over an installed program. There's too many registry entries, etc. You can copy over the non-program files simply enough. If you want some more help, pm me and I can walk you through some of it.
